Hey Sailors...

This blog is really dead, but.. just a little post reflecting on the historical moments this year.
****************************************************

The Opti squad has been growing from strength to strength.. thats a fact..
Beginning earlier on this year in doha, pocketing 1 Gold, 2 Slivers and 1 Bronze. Excellent results. However, without losing track of the Goal in mind, we continued shortly after, and made history by being the first Asian in 33 years to ever win the South American Championships. With a first and second placing in the Championships, it was a historical moment for Singapore's Optimist sailors, not forgetting the Nations Cup we achieved, we were making our mark in the team racing event. Continuing to conquer the North Americans and the Asians, we were hitting top marks in all the events. By winning 3 of the more prestigious Continental events, the only honour left is the World Championships. 2006 has been one whacky year for the Opti sailors, hopefully, 2007 would be a better year. As we countdown to the new year, i just want to wish the Worlds team all the best in the races, hopefully this World Championships would be the best ever.. forever.. wadever... :D

Mucho Gracias mis amigos...

Feliz Año Nuevo..

Hey ppl...

Sailing in a feet of only 5 boats is a 1st for me and its a much much harder competation when everyone is tacking on each other again and again... It was a really really good expericence for me... It was a real shock to me when Seanny showed me what he did in the 2nd last day =) ahaha. Asean is coming up and hope we can get 8 in the top 10 =)

yo ppl... the training camp is over and for the 1st time i got to race in a small fleet... and its much much harder... when everyone is at your level and fighting for "mok 1/4 mil" which turns out to be a stupid $1 coin... lol... it was a great experience for me and was a supprise when i saw what Seanny showed me on the 2nd last day =) Asean is coming up soon hope we can get 8 in the top 10 =)

hola.. como esta?.. hey everyone..

hmm.. after doing some team racing with the Asean B team.. i got some inspiration and jot down a few pointers for team racing.. Many of the B team sailors know how to team race and have potential to be a good team racer. However, many of them still do not realise when and where to perform the techniques and tactics they have learned..
First of all.. they need to realise the positionings of each other and then apply the correct techniques and tactics to wadever the situation is. For example.. if u are leading 1,2,3,8.. one would know that flyin would be the utmost piority. However, in a situation such as 2,4,5,7.. do they know wad to do?.. i would refer these kind of positionings as secondary positionings. Which means that positions whereby the Tactics and techniques applied would noe be straight forward.. Thus.. we would need to make em into Primary positionings.. which would most likely to be 2,3,4,?.... From there.. it would be easier for the team racers to work on a common goal..
In both secondary and primary positionings..there will be 3 different roles.. the roles are the Attacker,Defender, and the free role.. which would be a flexible role which can change into the attacker or defender.. For eg. (3,4,5,8).. in this positionings.. the 3 would be the attacker..as he has to put pressure on the 1 and 2 to continue sailing to the front, leaving 4 and 5 (defenders) to kill 6 and 7 easily..8 would be the free role and would try and catch up.. However, one must note that the roles given to each sailor would be changing all the time, according to the positionings of the team.
All these are only helping guides to perform better in team racing.. yet in order for these guides to work.. each memebr of the team would have to perform the task given to him well.. This way, success can be ensured. :)
(*if you have any comments.. post it on the blog.. I bet justin has something to say..haha)
